VIENNA, 1 July (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations (Vienna), Shin Chae-hyun, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
During his career, Mr. Shin, who is also serving as Ambassador to Austria, has served in various capacities, among them:
Secretary to the President for Foreign Policy, Office of National Security (2017-2019); Consul-General, Korean Consulate General, San Francisco, United States (2016-2017); Director-General for North American Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2015-2016); Director General for North Korean Nuclear Affairs, Office of Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2014-2015); Director-General for Human Resources, Office of Planning and Coordination, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2013-2014); Deputy Consul-General, Korean Consulate General, Hong Kong, China (2011-2013); Consul, Korean Consulate General, New York, United States (2008-2011); Director, North America Division I, North American Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (2007-2008); Director, Protocol Division I, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (2005-2007); First Secretary, Embassy in the United States (2002-2005), Director, Human Resources Management Division, Office of Planning and Management, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (2001-2002); First Secretary, Embassy in Senegal (1997-2001); First Secretary, Korean Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York (1994-1997).
Mr. Shin holds a Bachelor's degree in Communication from the Seoul National University and a Master's degree in International Relations from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.
He is married and has one daughter and one son.
