New Permanent Representative of Singapore presents Credentials

VIENNA, 3 September (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Singaporeto the United Nations (Vienna), Umej Singh Bhatia, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

During his career, Mr. Bhatia, who is also Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, has served in various capacities, among them:

Director-General, Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2017-2019); Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (2013-2016); Consul-General in the Consulate-General in Dubai (2011-2012); Chargé d'Affaires a.i./Counsellor, subsequently Chargé d'Affaires a.i./ Minister-Counsellor, Embassy in Doha (2006-2011); Alternate Representative for Singapore on the UN Security Council (2001-2002); First Secretary, Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York (1999-2003) and produced and presented the TV Corporation of Singapore current affairs programme 'Talking Point' (1995).

Mr. Bhatia holds Master's degree in Regional Studies (Middle East) from Harvard University and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Cambridge.

He is married and has two children.
