VIENNA, 19 September (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations (Vienna), Saroja Sirisena, presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
During her career, Ms. Sirisena, who is also Ambassador to Austria, has served in various capacities, among them:
Director General/Public Communications and Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2018-2019); Director General/Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2018-2019); Director General Multilateral Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2018-2019); Consul General, Mumbai (2014-2018); Director General, External Relations, Ministry of Economic Development (2012-2014); Director South Asia & South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2012); Director Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, (2011-2012); Minister, Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in Geneva (2010-2011); Minister Counsellor, Embassy to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union (2007-2010); Deputy Director Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2006-2007); Deputy Director, Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2005); First Secretary, Permanent Delegation to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) (2001-2005); Assistant Director, Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1998-2001); and Executive Assistant to the Minister of Commerce (1997-1998).
Ms. Sirisena holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Melbourne.
