VIENNA, 17 September (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Spain to the United Nations (Vienna), Esther Monterrubio Villar, presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.
During her career, Ms. Monterrubio Villar has served in various capacities, among them:
Cabinet Director to the State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and for Ibero-America and the Caribbean, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2018-2020); Ambassador at Large for Peacekeeping Operations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2012-2018); Ambassador at Large for International Environmental and Sustainable Development Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2011-2012); Adviser at the General Directorate for Multilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2011); Commissioner for External Relations, Regional Government of Aragon (2007-2011); Director, Regional Government of Aragon Office Madrid (2004-2007); Deputy Director General for Eastern Europe, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2002-2004); Section Head for Russia and Eastern Europe Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1999-2002); Section Head for North America Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1998-1999); Secretary, Embassy in Israel (1996-1998), Technical Counsellor at the Minister's Cabinet, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1994-1996); Section Head for North America Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1993-1994); and Head of Bilateral Affairs, Under Directorate-General for North America (1991-1993).
Ms. Monterrubio Villar holds a Bachelor of Laws.
