Permanent Representative of Latvia presents credentials

VIENNA, 18 September (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Latvia to the United Nations (Vienna), Katrīna Kaktiņa presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.

During her career, Ms. Kaktiņa, who is also Ambassador to the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe and other international organizations in Vienna, has served in various capacities, among them:

Director of the Legal Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2018-2020); Deputy Director of the Legal Department and Head of the International Law Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2014-2018); Head of the International Law Division (2013-2014); Second Secretary, Permanent Mission to the United Nations, New York (2011-2013); Desk Officer, Third Secretary, Deputy Head of Division, International Law Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2004-2011); and Desk Officer, Foreign Minister's Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2003-2004).

Ms. Kaktiņa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Latvian-Spanish Intercultural Relations from the Latvian Academy of Culture and a professional degree in Legal Studies from the University of Latvia. She holds a Master's Degree in Law (LL.M. Dist.) from Georgetown University Law Centre.

She speaks English, French, Italian, Russian and Spanish.
