VIENNA, 17 November (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Ireland to the United Nations (Vienna), Eoin O'Leary, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.
During his career, Mr. O'Leary has served in various capacities, among them:
Ambassador to China, Beijing (2017-2020); Director General, European Neighbourhood and Policy Division (ENP), Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (2016-2017); Director General, European Union Division, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (2015-2016); Ambassador to Russia, Moscow (2013-2015); Ambassador, Permanent Representative to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Vienna (2007-2013); Assistant Secretary, European and International Affairs Division, Department of the Taoiseach (2001-2007); Assistant Principal/Principal Officer, European and International Affairs Division and Economic and Social Policy Division, Department of the Taoiseach (1995-2001).
Mr. O'Leary hold a Bachelors of Arts (Education and Maths) from St. Patrick's College and a Diploma in Legal Studies from King's Inns and is a qualified Barrister at Law, King's Inns.
