UNIS/MA/280
28 September 2020
Re-issued as received
VIENNA, 28 September (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) - The event is organized jointly by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the European Brand Institute (EBI), Europe's leading platform of brand value with 25 years of experience in brand and intellectual property valuation. Since it was launched in 2005, the Brand Global Summit established itself as a business and networking event that seeks to promote economic and social integration, business partnerships and serve as platform for exchange of best practices and experiences to advance economic development. Branding can be a powerful tool to foster Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development and to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in response to digitalization and the current economic ramifications from COVID-19. Brands do not only have an impact at the level of individual firms but also for entire industries, countries and regions, which makes them an integral part of economic development initiatives, particularly relevant for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, across developed and developing economies, as well as economies in transition.
"Brand Global Summit 2020: Brands for Sustainability" will revolve around the following topics:
The Summit will start with a joint Press Conference and Presentation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between UNIDO and EBI earlier this year. The Press Conference will explore the value of brands as an intangible asset in an increasingly digital economy and in the context of the paradigm shift related to post COVID-19 crisis-management strategies that are expected to rely more on difficult-to-replicate intangible assets with a focus on ensuring better economic performance and a fast recovery.
