Message from the main Vienna International Centre organizations

VIENNA, 27 October (UN Information Service) - This is a message from the four main organizations based at the Vienna International Centre (VBOs).

The Vienna International Centre (VIC) Medical Service reported today that five people who work for VIC-based organizations tested positive for SARS CoV-2 in the past four days.

Two people work for UN Office at Vienna/UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNOV/UNODC). There was no workplace exposure.

One person works for the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) outside of Austria and another for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) in Austria, but not at the VIC. One person works for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). For the instances related to Austria (CTBTO and IAEA), close contacts have been informed.

The cumulative total number of people who have tested positive among personnel of the VIC-based organizations is 98, of whom 81 work at the VIC. Of the total of 98 personnel, 86 have already recovered.

The four main VBOs are the United Nations Office at Vienna/UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN Industrial Development Organization and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization.
