Message from the main Vienna International Centre organizations

VIENNA, 29 October (UN Information Service) - This is a message from the four main organizations based at the Vienna International Centre (VBOs). 

The Vienna International Centre (VIC) Medical Service reported that six people who work for VIC-based organizations or at the VIC tested positive for SARS CoV-2.

Two people work for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). There was no workplace exposure in one case and in the other contacts have been informed.

Two people work for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and close contacts have been informed.

One person works for the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV)/United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and there was no workplace exposure.

A sixth person, who works at the VIC but not for one of the VBOs, tested positive. There was no workplace exposure.

The cumulative total number of people who have tested positive among personnel of the VIC-based organizations is 104, of whom 87 work at the VIC. Of the total of 104 personnel, 86 have already recovered.  

The four main VBOs are the United Nations Office at Vienna/UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN Industrial Development Organization and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization.
