 Message from the main Vienna International Centre organizations

VIENNA, 16 November (UN Information Service) - This is a message from the four main organizations based at the Vienna International Centre (VBOs). 

The Vienna International Centre (VIC) Medical Service reported today that eight people who work at the VIC or for VIC-based organizations tested positive for SARS CoV-2.

Three people work for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at the VIC. One person works for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) at the VIC. One person works for UNIDO outside Austria. Two people work for the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV)/United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) at the VIC. One person works outside Austria for a VIC-based organization but not for one of the main four organizations. In those cases where there was workplace exposure, close contacts have been informed.

The cumulative total number of people who have tested positive among personnel of the VIC-based organizations is 154, of whom 131 work at the VIC. Of the total of 154 personnel, 105 have recovered.  

The four main VBOs are the United Nations Office at Vienna/UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN Industrial Development Organization and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization.
