Permanent Observer of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to the United Nations (Vienna) presents credentials

VIENNA, 29 June (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Observer of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to the United Nations (Vienna), Brigitte Brenner, presented her credentials today to the Deputy Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Dennis Thatchaichawalit.

During her career Ms. Brenner who is Head of the Vienna Liaison Office, has served in various capacities, among them:

Head of European Union and International Services of the Parliamentary Administration, Austria (2009-2020); Deputy Advisor for European and International Affairs to Austrian Federal President Heinz Fischer  (2007-2008); Head of Unit for Crisis Management and International Disaster Relief, Office of the Austrian Chancellor (1999-2003); International and European Policy Adviser in the Federal Minister’s cabinet, Austrian Ministry of the Interior (1997-1999); Member of the international women’s policy staff in the office of the Minister of Women’s Affairs (1991-1997); and  President  of the Board of the Austrian National Committee for United Nations Funds for Women (UNIFEM) (2001-2006).

Ms. Brenner did a Doctoral dissertation in political science at the University of Vienna, postgraduate studies at the Vienna Diplomatic Academy and graduated with honours in History and German Philology from the University of Graz.

Ms. Brenner speaks English, German, and French.
