VIENNA, 13 July (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Viet Nam, Nguyen Trung Kien, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.
During his career, Mr. Nguyen, has served in various capacities, among them:
Director General, Department of the Middle East and Africa, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2019–2021); Acting Director General, Department of the Middle East and Africa, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2018-2019); Deputy Director General, Department of the Middle East and Africa, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2017–2018); Desk Officer, then Deputy Director General, Department of West Asia and Africa, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2013-2017); Counsellor and Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy in South Africa (2009-2013); Desk Officer, Department of West Asia and Africa, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2008-2009); Second Secretary, then First Secretary, Embassy in Thailand (2004-2008); and Desk Officer, Department of Southeast Asia, South Asia and South Pacific, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1997-2004).
Mr. Nguyen speaks English.
