VIENNA, 4 August (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Germany, Goetz Schmidt-Bremme, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.
During his career, Mr. Schmidt-Bremme has served in various capacities, among them:
Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco (2017–2021); Ambassador for the 2017-2018 GFMD Co-Chairmanship (2017-2018); Director for Legal and Consular Issues including Migration (2013–2017); Minister of Economic Affairs in Paris (2012-2013); Head of the Division for Private International Law, Civil Law, Mercantile and Commercial Law, International Customs and Tax Law (2006-2012); Deputy Consul-General in São Paulo, Brazil (2002-2005); Deputy Head of the International Criminal Law and Tax Law Division (1999-2002); Head of the Economic Section at the German Embassy in Lisbon, Portugal and German Deputy Commissioner-General at Expo 98 (1996-1999); Desk Officer for Basic Personnel Issues (1992-1996); Deputy Consul-General in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (1990-1992); Desk Officer in the Civil Law Division, entry into Foreign Service (1988-1990).
Mr. Schmidt-Bremme studied law and philosophy in Bonn and Lausanne, followed by practical legal training in Düsseldorf.
He is married and has three children.
