Permanent Representative of Mauritius presents credentials

VIENNA, 5 August (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Mauritius, Usha Dwarka-Canabady, presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.

During her career, Ms. Dwarka-Canabady has served in various capacities, among them:

Ambassador and Permanent Representative to Switzerland, the United Nations, the World Trade Organization (WTO) and other International Organizations in Geneva (2020-2021); Secretary for Foreign Affairs (2015-2020); Acting Secretary for Foreign Affairs (2013-2015); High Commissioner of Mauritius to India (2004-2006); Ambassador and Chief of Protocol (2003-2004); Coordinator at the World Summit on the Information Society,  International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Geneva (2003);  Deputy Permanent Representative, Mauritius Mission to the UN and WTO , Geneva (1996-2002); First Secretary of the Bilateral Directorate (Asia),  Multilateral Economic Directorate & Multilateral Political Directorate (1993-1996); Second Secretary of the Multilateral Political Directorate (1992-1993); Second Secretary, Mauritius Embassy in Brussels (1988-1991); Second Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs (1988); School Psychological Service at the Ministry of Education in Port-Louis (1987-1988).

Ms. Dwarka-Canabady holds a Certificate of the Diplomatic Studies Programme at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, a Master's Degree in International Politics from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and a Bachelor of Science Combined Honours Degree in Psychology, Sociology, and English from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom.
