Permanent Representative of Bhutan presents credentials

VIENNA, 19 November (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Bhutan to the United Nations (Vienna), Tenzin Rondel Wangchuk, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.

During his career, Mr. Wangchuk, who is also Ambassador-designate to Austria and Norway, has served in various capacities, among them:

Ambassador to Switzerland (November 2020-present); Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva and Permanent Representative to the Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Food Programme (WFP), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) (August 2020-present); Director of the Department of Multilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2018–2020); Minister Counsellor and Head of Chancery, Embassy in Belgium (2014-2018); Chief, Asia and the Pacific Division, Department of Bilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2011-2014); Deputy Chief of Asia and the Pacific Division, Department of Bilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2010-2011), Counsellor (Political), Embassy in India (2008-2010),  First Secretary (Political), Embassy in India (2006-2007), Under Secretary, Department of Multilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2004-2006); Senior Programme Officer, Department of Aid and Debt Management, Ministry of Finance (2003); Programme Officer, National Budget and Aid Coordination Division, Ministry of Finance (1999-2002); and Assistant Programme Officer, National Budget and Aid Coordination Division, Ministry of Finance (1994-1999).

Mr. Wangchuk holds a Master of Professional Accountancy from the University of Canberra, Australia and a Bachelor of Arts from the Sherubtse College in Kanglung, Bhutan.

Mr. Wangchuk is married and has two sons and a daughter.
