VIENNA, 19 January (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Jordan to the United Nations Office at Vienna, Haitham Abu Alfoul, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.
During his career, Mr. Abu Alfoul, who is also Ambassador to Austria, has served in various positions, among them:
Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2021-2022); Director, Consular Affairs Department and Director, Operations Centre (2020-2022); Consul General in Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (2016-2020); Director, Expatriates Affairs Department (2014-2016); Director, Coordinating Office of King Abdullah II Award (2012-2016); Counsellor, Embassy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (2008–2012); Second Secretary, Embassy in Sana’a, Yemen (2005–2008); Third Secretary, Embassy in Berlin, Germany (2001–2005) and Attaché, Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia (1996–2000).
Mr. Abu Alfoul holds a PhD in Political Sciences from Salahaddin University, Kurdistan Region-Iraq, a Master’s in Diplomacy from the University of Malta and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Sciences, Economics and Statistics from the University of Jordan.
Mr. Abu Alfoul speaks Arabic and English.
He is married and has five children.
