VIENNA, 17 October (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Observer of the Council of Europe to the United Nations (Vienna), Hermine Poppeller, presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.
During her career, Ms. Poppeller, who is also in charge of liaison with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and other International Organizations in Vienna, has served in various capacities, among them:
Austrian Ambassador in Athens, Greece (2019-2023); Austrian Ambassador to Kyiv, Ukraine (2015-2019); Head of Department for housing issues, embassy and residence premises, Administrative Directorate, Vienna, Austrian Foreign Ministry; Austrian Ambassador in Riga, Latvia; Austrian Consul General and Director of the Austrian Cultural Forum in Krakow, Poland; Deputy Head of Mission, Austrian Embassy in Budapest, Hungary; Deputy Head of Mission, Austrian Embassy in Ottawa, Canada; joined the Austrian Foreign Ministry in1992.
Ms. Poppeller holds a Master’s degree in philology from the University of Innsbruck, Austria.
