Handover Ceremony (11 April) and Opening Press Briefing
(12 April) for the 12th UN Crime Congress to take Place
SALVADOR, 9 April (UN Information Service) - In accordance with practice governing UN Conferences away from Headquarters, the Centro de Convenções da Bahia will be handed over to the United Nations for the duration of the 12th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, on Sunday, 11 April at 10:00 hours, in a ceremony to be held in the Principal Entrance Hall of the Centre.
The Congress, which will formally commence on Monday, 12 April, will bring together the largest and most diverse gathering of policy makers and practitioners in crime prevention and criminal justice, including Ministers of Justice from China, Finland, Italy, Portugal, Russian Federation and Slovakia, to name a few. More than 3,000 participants are expected at the 12th Congress.

On 11 April: Photo-op 10:00 hours Salvador local time, at Principal Entrance Hall, Centro de Convenções da Bahia
Handover ceremony, with Romeu Tuma Junior, National Secretary of Justice, Ministry of Justice, Brazil, Jacques Wagner, Governor of Bahia and John Sandage, Executive Secretary of the 12th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. This will be followed by a press briefing, details below.
On 11 April: Press Briefing 11:30 hours Salvador local time, at Press Briefing Room, Pavilion, Centro de Convenções da Bahia

Kindly note that media need to be accredited in order to enter the premises.
Media accreditation is possible in the main registration area of the Centro de Convenções da Bahia from Friday, 9 April 2010 from 10:00 to 18:00 hours.
