Space exhibition to be open for the public at the Vienna International Centre with special guest United Nations Champion for Space Scott Kelly

VIENNA, 23 May (United Nations Information Service) - The public are invited to come and see a special space exhibition and meet an astronaut at the Vienna International Centre (VIC) on Saturday 23 June 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The exhibition will feature more than 40 exhibitors from around the world, including space agencies, private sector and industry entities, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and will be a unique opportunity for visitors to learn more about global space activities. Staff of the Vienna-based United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), including its Director Simonetta Di Pippo, will also be present to speak with the public about the space-related work of the United Nations.

Special guest United Nations Champion for Space, former NASA astronaut Scott Kelly, will be present at the exhibition from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

The exhibition is part of UNISPACE+50, an event at the VIC from 18 to 21 June 2018 that brings together the international community to celebrate the 50 th anniversary of the first United Nations Conference on the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, held in Vienna in 1968. UNISPACE+50 will also be an opportunity for United Nations Member States to set out the future path of international space cooperation.

Access to the exhibition will be via Gate 1 of the VIC on Wagramer Strasse. The nearest U-Bahn station is Kaisermühlen VIC.

Please be advised that, for admittance into the VIC, all visitors must go through an airport-style security check and must present a valid state-issued ID. No pre-registration is necessary.

The language of the exhibition is English.
