Preventing corruption, including the role of the private sector and the media to be among issues raised at UN Anti-Corruption Conference in Morocco
Media Accreditation for the Fourth Session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption in Marrakech (24-28 October 2011) now open
VIENNA, 22 September (UN Information Service) - The Fourth Session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) will be held in Marrakech, Morocco from 24-28 October 2011. Corruption in the private sector and what business can do to become part of the solution, preventing corruption, how to recover illicit assets and the role of the media will be among the topics to be discussed.
The United Nations Convention against Corruption is the only legally binding universal anti-corruption instrument. Every two years the States Parties to the Convention meet to review implementation of the Convention and discuss ways to improve the capacity of and cooperation between States parties to achieve the Convention's objectives. More than one thousand participants are expected to attend from governments, regional and inter-governmental organizations, civil society, the private sector and the media. It is expected that more than two dozen countries will be represented by ministers.
Media representatives wishing to cover the conference are advised to apply for accreditation in advance of the session by contacting the Accreditation Office of the United Nations Information Service Vienna or during the session at the Press Registration Counter at the conference venue, the Palmeraie Golf Palace Complex. Media facilities, including a press centre and a press briefing room will be available in the Palmeraie Golf Palace Complex.
