VIENNA, 5 April (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Tunisia to the United Nations (Vienna), Samia Ilhem Ammar, presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Ghada Waly.
During her career, Ms. Ammar, who is also Ambassador to Austria, has served in various capacities, among them:
Director General of Economic and Cultural Diplomacy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2021-2023); Ambassador to Hungary (2015-2020); Minister and Director of the Study and Research Group on Human Rights (2014-2015); Counsellor and Minister, Tunisian Embassy in Rome (2008-2012); Counsellor and Deputy Director, Directorate for Relations with Member Countries of the European Union (2007-2008); Counsellor and Deputy Director, Directorate for Political, Economic Affairs and Cooperation with the European Union (2006-2007); Counsellor and Desk Officer, Directorate for Relations with the European Union (2004-2006); Counsellor and Desk officer, United Nations Office in Geneva (1999-2003); Counsellor and Desk Officer, General Directorate of International Organizations and Conferences (1994-1999) and Counsellor, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1994).
Ms. Ammar holds a Diploma of Advanced Studies in “History and Civilization” from Sorbonne University in Paris, France.
Ms. Ammar speaks Arabic, French, English and Italian.
