 Dag Hammarskjold Library Announces Web Access to: Online Catalogue;
Indexes to UN Documentation; Voting Records; and Speech Citations (UNBISnet)

NEW YORK, 13 September (UN Headquarters) -- The United Nations Dag Hammarskjöld Library is pleased to announce the public launch of the United Nations Bibliographic Information System (UNBISnet) on the web.

UNBISnet may be accessed directly at http://unbisnet.un.org or by selecting the link on the Library’s home page http://www.un.org/Depts/dhl

UNBISnet is the primary index to United Nations documentation published since 1979, or earlier for selected major documents.  It also includes the catalogue of the collections of the Dag Hammarskjöld Library.

A special area of UNBISnet may be accessed to view detailed voting records of resolutions adopted by the General Assembly (thirty-eighth session, 1983 -) and Security Council (1946 -).

Another special file contains speech citations for the main United Nations organs, the General Assembly (thirty-eighth session, 1983 -), the Security Council (thirty-eighth year, 1983 -), the Economic and Social Council (1983 -) and the Trusteeship Council (1982 -).

Some links to full text are currently available, particularly to resolutions.  Additional links will be made as the system is developed.

Users are encouraged to send comments and suggestions to the DHL Webmaster, www.dhl@un.org, so that the site can be continually improved in response to users' needs.
