NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF THE UNITED KINGDOM PRESENTS CREDENTIALS


VIENNA, 29 August (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the United Nations (Vienna), Peter Jenkins, presented his credentials on Wednesday to Pino Arlacchi, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Prior to his current appointment, Mr Jenkins was Deputy Permanent Representative of the UK to the United Nations in Geneva. From 1992 until 1995 he served as Minister – Counsellor, Consul – General and Deputy Head of Mission in Brasilia. Between 1987 and 1991 he was First Secretary (Economic) at the British Embassy in Paris and before that Private Secretary at the Embassy in Washington.

Mr Jenkins began his diplomatic career at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1973. He served previously in the UK mission to the United Nations in Vienna from 1975 until 1978.

He is married with two children.
