NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF CUBA
PRESENTS CREDENTIALS

VIENNA, 8 October (UN Information Service) – The new Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations (Vienna), José Ramón Cabañas Rodríguez, presented his credentials on Monday to Pino Arlacchi, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Rodríguez was Director of Consular Affairs and Cuban Resident Abroad Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Between 1993 and 1994 he served as Deputy Director of North America Division. Between 1990 and 1993 Mr. Rodríguez was Second and Third Secretary respectively at the Cuban Embassy in Ottawa. Mr. Rodríguez joined the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1984 and two years later moved to the North America Division.

Mr. Rodríguez holds a B.A. in International Political Science from the Institute of International relations "Raúl Roa García" in Havana, Cuba. He speaks English and French.

He is married, with two children.
