PRESS STATEMENT ON IRAQ
BY SECURITY COUNCIL PRESIDENT

NEW YORK, 16 October (UN Headquarters) -- The following press statement by Security Council President Martin Belinga-Eboutou (Cameroon) was delivered on 15 October:

The Council was briefed by Dr. Blix on the subject of the latest correspondence received from Iraq concerning the joint United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC)/International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) letter of 8 October 2002, which sets out in writing the results of the Vienna discussions on practical arrangements preceding the inspections.

In this connection, I should like to confirm that the Security Council will hold an open meeting tomorrow, 16 October 2002, on the question of Iraq.
