NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF VIET NAM
PRESENTS CREDENTIALS

 

VIENNA, 10 November (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, presented his credentials today to Mr. Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Mr. Giang will also be serving concurrently as Ambassador to the Slovak Republic, the Republic of Croatia and as Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna.

Prior to this assignment, Mr. Giang was serving in the capacity of Deputy Director, Department of International Law and Treaties at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam (1998-2003). He has also served as Second Secretary in his country’s Permanent Mission at the United Nations in New York (1989-92), and as a Specialist in the Department of International Law and Treaties at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1980-89).

Born on 14 March 1958 in Nam Dinh, Viet Nam, Mr Giang received a Master of Arts degree at Charleton University in Canada (1996-98). He also studied at the Institute of Social Studies, the Netherlands Postgraduate Research Programme (1984-85) and at the School of Diplomacy in Hanoi, Viet Nam (1975-80).

He is married with two children.
