New Permanent Representative of Mauritania Presents Credentials



VIENNA, 14 January (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Mauritania to the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Mélaïnine Ould Moctar Neche, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, UNOV.

Mr. Ould Moctar Neche also serves as Permanent Representative to other International Organizations based in Vienna and as Ambassador of Mauritania to Austria, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Ould Moctar Neche served as Ambassador to Italy as well as Permanent Representative to the International Organizations based in Rome. Between 1988 and 1993 he was Director of the Department for International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nouakchott. Among other postings he has also served as Head of the Section for Mauritanian Interests in Cairo, Egypt, and as First Counsellor at the Mauritanian Embassies in Washington, DC, USA, and Paris, France.   

Mr. Ould Moctar Neche earned his degree at the École Normale Supérieure in Nouakchott, Mauritania.

Mr. Ould Moctar Neche is married and has five children.
