New Permanent Representative of Mali Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 10 May (UN Information Service) -- The New Permanent Representative of Mali to the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Louis Marie Joseph Bastide, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General of UNOV.

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Bastide served as Ambassador of Mali to South Africa.

Mr. Bastide had held several posts in the field of justice. Between 1991 and 1999, he was the President of the Supreme Court of Mali, and from 1987 to 1991, the President of the Administrative Section of the Supreme Court. Further, Mr. Bastide was Director of the Prime Minister’s Office in Mali from 1986 to 1987, and Deputy Managing Director of INPS (Social Security Fund, Pension Fund, Family Allowance, Work-related Accidents) between 1979 and 1980.

Mr. Bastide holds a degree in Law from the Faculty of Strasbourg and a diploma from the National School of Magistrature of Paris.

He is married and has three children.
