New Permanent Representative of Thailand Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 10 February (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Adisak Panupong, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, UNOV.

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Panupong was serving as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Thailand to Denmark.

Mr. Panupong has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Thailand to Singapore (1995-2000); Director-General, Department of Protocol (1994-95); Deputy Director-General, Department of Protocol (1991-94); Director, Press Division, Department of Information (1989-91); Counsellor, Embassy of Thailand in Brussels, Belgium (1986-89); First Secretary, Embassy of Thailand in  Bonn, Germany (1984-86); and First Secretary, Southeast Asia Division, Department of Political Affairs (1983-84).

Mr. Panupong completed his Bachelors Degree in Political Science (International Relations) at the Thammasat University, Bangkok, Thailand and his Masters Degree in Asian Studies at the University of the Philippines, Philippines.
