New Permanent Representative of Denmark Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 4 October (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Denmark to the United Nations (Vienna), Gunnar Ortmann, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna.

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Ortmann was serving as Ambassador to Germany (2001-05).

Mr. Ortmann has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: State Secretary, Ambassador, Head of the North Group in the Foreign Ministry (1997-2001); Ambassador to Sweden (1995-1997); Under-Secretary, Ambassador, North Group, Foreign Ministry (1992-1995); Head of Department for European Integration in the Foreign Ministry (1988-1992); Economic Counsellor in Bonn (1984-1988) and Head of Section in the Foreign Ministry (1979-1984).

Mr. Ortmann has graduated in Political Science. He is married.
