New Permanent Representative of Cuba Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 1 November 2005 (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations (Vienna), Norma Miguelina Goicochea Estenoz, presented her credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Prior to her current appointment, Ms. Goicochea Estenoz was serving as Deputy Director at the Multilateral Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba (2001-05).

Ms. Goicochea Estenoz has served in many capacities in the course of her career, including as: Official, Multilateral Affairs Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Havana, (1981-87 and 1990-2001); and Second Secretary, Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations, New York (1989-90).

Ms. Goicochea Estenoz studied International Relations at the Raúl Roa García Higher Institute of International Relations in Havana, and obtained a diploma in National Defence from the Máximo Gómez Armed Forces Academy.
