Vienna International Centre to Host Exhibition on Indian Space Programme

VIENNA, 7 June (UN Information Service) -- The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (OOSA), in cooperation with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), is organizing an exhibition on “India in Space”, on the occasion of the forty-eighth session of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS).

 The exhibition will be officially inaugurated at 18:15 hrs on 9 June by G. Madhavan Nair, Chairman of ISRO, Sheel Kant Sharma, Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations Office at Vienna, and Adigun Ade Abiodun, Chairman of COPUOS.

“India in Space” will include scaled models of Indian satellites and launch vehicles. The objectives and achievements of the Indian space programme in applying space science and technology for solving problems on Earth, will also be highlighted through 16 display panels.

 The exhibition, covering 56 square metres, will be located in the Rotunda of the Vienna International Centre (VIC), and can be viewed as part of a guided tour of the VIC until 17 June 2005.
