New Permanent Representative of Pakistan Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 18 April (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations (Vienna), Mr. Shahbaz, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Shahbaz was serving as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Norway (since 2001).

Mr. Shahbaz has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: Director General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1997-2001), and on diplomatic assignments in The Hague (1993-97), Geneva (1989-93), Hungary (1987-89) and Mexico (1975-78).

Mr. Shahbaz holds university degrees in Arts and Law. He is married and has two children.
