New Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 6 June (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations (Vienna), Esen Aydogdyev, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Aydogdyev was serving as First Secretary, Counsellor and Deputy Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations, New York (1997-2005).

Mr. Aydogdyev has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: Second Secretary of the Department of Europe and America and Second Secretary of the Department of North and South America and the Caribbean at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan (1993-97) and Attaché at the Department of Information, Analysis and Forecasting of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan (1992).

Mr. Aydogdyev holds university degrees in English Philology and Law of the Turkmen State University and obtained a Certificate in Public Administration at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, United States. He is married and has two children.
