New Permanent Representative of Mauritania Presents Credentials  

VIENNA, 25 August (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Mauritania to the United Nations (Vienna), Mamadou Diakité, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Diakité was serving as Ambassador to Denmark (since 2006) and Germany (since 2005).

Mr. Diakité has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as Ambassador -Director for Legal and Consular Questions, Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in Nouakchott (1993-2005), Consul General in Paris (1991-93), First Counsellor with the Embassy to Spain (1988-91), and First Counsellor with the Embassy to Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxemburg and the European Union (1983-88).

Mr. Diakité studied at the universities of Dakar and Nouakchott. He is married and has four children.
