New Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom Presents Credentials

 

VIENNA, 12 October (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the United Nations (Vienna), John Macgregor, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

 

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Macgregor was serving as Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Austria (since 2003).

 

Mr. Macgregor has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: Director, Wider Europe Department, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (2000-03), Ambassador to Poland (1998-2000), Director-General for Trade Promotion in Germany and Consul-General in Düsseldorf (1995-98), as well as Head, External European Union Department, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (1993-95).  

 

Mr. Macgregor studied at the Universities of Oxford and Birmingham and obtained a degree in Musicology. He is married and has four children.
