New Permanent Representative of Greece Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 13 September (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Greece to the United Nations (Vienna), Panayotis Zografos, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Zografos was serving as Director, Department of NATO-WEU, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Greece (since 2005).

Mr. Zografos has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: Ambassador of Greece, Tel Aviv, Israel (2001 - 05) and Ambassador of Greece, Yerevan, Armenia (1998 - 2001), Minister Plenipotentiary Second Class, Ministry of Foreign Affaires, Athens (1997 - 98), First Counselor, Ministry of Foreign Affaires, Athens (1994 - 97), Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Greece, Madrid, Spain (1990 - 94), Chargé d'Affaires, Embassy of Greece, Caracas, Venezuela (1989 - 90), Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Greece, Caracas, Venezuela (1988 - 89), Consul General of Greece, Hanover, Germany (1985 - 89).

Mr. Zografos holds a degree in Law Studies, University of Athens, Greece. He is married and has a child.
