New Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 1 October (UN Information Service) -- The new Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the United Nations (Vienna), Kairat Abdrakhmanov, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Abdrakhmanov was serving as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan (since 2006).

Mr. Abdrakhmanov has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Israel (2003 - 06), Minister Counsellor, Embassy of Kazakhstan to the United Kingdom (2001 - 03), Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan (1999 - 2001), and Director, Department of Bilateral Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1998 - 99).

Mr. Abdrakhmanov holds a degree in History from the Kazakh National State University. He is married and has two children.
