New Permanent Representative of Oman Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 14 January (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Oman to the United Nations (Vienna), Badr Mohamed Al-Hinai, presented his credentials today to Antonio Maria Costa, Director-General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Al-Hinai was serving as Head, East Asia Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oman (since 2007).

Mr. Al-Hinai has served in many capacities in the course of his career, including as: Head, Office for Political Analyses, Department of H.E. the Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2005 - 07), Deputy Head, European Department for the Americas, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2004 - 05), Counsellor, Department of H.E. the Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2004), Chargé d' Affaires a.i., Embassy of Oman to the United States, Washington D.C. (1995 - 2004), Chargé d' Affaires a.i., Embassy of Oman to the Republic of Korea, Seoul (1991 - 95), Second Secretary, Department of International Conferences and Organizations (1989 - 91), Third Secretary then Second Secretary, Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1985 - 87) and Third Secretary, Department of Administration and Finance Assistance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1985).

Mr. Al-Hinai holds a doctoral degree in Crisis and Conflict and ways to resolve them, University of George Mayson, United States.  He is married and has three children.
