New Permanent Representative of China Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 10 September (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations (Vienna), Hu Xiaodi, presented his credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Antonio Maria Costa.

Mr. Hu is also serving as Permanent Representative to other international organizations in Vienna, posts which he assumed this year.

Mr. Hu has served in many capacities in the course of his career, among them: Ambassador, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (since 2006), Deputy Permanent Representative, Permanent Mission to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, and Ambassador for Disarmament Affairs (1999-2006), Deputy Director-General, Department of Arms Control, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1998-99), Counsellor, Policy Planning Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1997-98), Counsellor and Deputy Director-General, Department of International Organizations and Conferences, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1995-97), First Secretary and Counsellor, Permanent Mission to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland (1991-95), Division Director, Department of International Organizations and Conferences, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1989-91), Second Secretary then First Secretary, Permanent Mission to the United Nations (New York) (1984-89) and Third Secretary and Deputy Division Director, Department of International Organizations and Conferences, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1979-84).

Mr. Hu holds a degree in English language from Beijing Foreign Language Institute.

He is married.
