New Permanent Representative of Pakistan Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 5 October (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations (Vienna), Khurshid Anwar, presented his credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Antonio Maria Costa.

Mr. Anwar has served in many capacities in the course of his career, among them: Secretary-General, Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Tehran (2006-09), Additional Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2005-06), Director-General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2004), Deputy High Commissioner, Pakistan Mission to Dhaka (2001-04), Deputy High Commissioner, Pakistan Mission to Ottawa (1998-2001), Director, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1997-98), Private Secretary to the Prime Minister (1995-97), Counsellor, Pakistan Mission to Cairo (1992-95), First Secretary, Pakistan Mission to London (1988-92), Director, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1986-88), Section Officer, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1985-86), Second Secretary, Pakistan Mission to Amman (1981-85) and Section Officer, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1981).

Mr. Anwar holds a Master's degree in Political Science from Peshawar University and a Master's degree in International Relations from Fletcher School of Law and Diplomatic, United States.

He is married.
