New Permanent Representative of Sierra Leone Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 7 December (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Sierra Leone, Jongopie Siaka Stevens, presented his credentials today to the Deputy Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Mazlan Othman.

Mr. Stevens has served in many capacities in the course of his career, among them:
Chief Medical Electronic Engineer, Ministry of Health and Sanitation (since 2003), Principal Medical Electronic Engineer, Ministry of Health and Sanitation (1993-2003), Member, Board of Directors, Sierra Leone National Telecommunications Company (1997-98), Senior Medical Electronic Engineer, Ministry of Health and Sanitation (1990-93), Board of Directors, Sierra Leone National Telecommunications Company (1990-92), Medical Electronic Engineer, Ministry of Health (1982-90), Lecturer in Electronics, World Health Organization (WHO), Sierra Leone (1978-80), Pupil Engineer, Ministry of Health (1976-78), and Trainee Engineer, Cambridge Scientific Instruments Limited, Cambridge, United Kingdom (1975-76)

Mr. Stevens holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Cambridge College of Arts and Technology, United Kingdom.

He is married and has four children.
