New Permanent Representative of Indonesia
Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 23 March (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Indonesia, I Gusti Agung Wesaka Puja, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Antonio Maria Costa.

Mr. Puja is also serving as Ambassador to Austria and Slovenia and Permanent Representative to the other international organizations in Vienna, posts which he assumed this year.

Mr. Puja has served in many capacities in the course of his career, among them: Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, World Trade Organization (WTO) and other international organizations, Geneva, Switzerland (2006-09); Member, Government Negotiators for the Peace Agreement between the Indonesian Government and the Free Aceh Movement (2005), Director for Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2002-06); Member, Government Negotiating Team for the Aceh Peace Process (2000-03), Counsellor, Permanent Mission to the United Nations, World Trade Organization and Other International Organizations, Geneva, Switzerland (1998-2002); Head of Section, Directorate for International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1996-98); Second Secretary, Permanent Mission, Vienna (1992-96); and Desk Officer, Directorate for Asia Pacific Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1988-90).

Mr. Puja holds a Master's degree from the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, United States, and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

He is married with two children.
