New Permanent Representative of Ethiopia
Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 17 March (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Minelik Alemu Getahun, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

Mr. Minelik has served in various capacities in the course of his career with the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which he joined in 1992.

Among them: Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the United Nations at Geneva and other International Organisations in Switzerland (2010); Acting Director-General, International Law and Consular Affairs Directorate General (2007-2010); Counsellor, Legal Affairs Directorate General (2002-2006); First Secretary, Permanent Mission of Ethiopia to the United Nations at Geneva and other International Organisations in Switzerland (1999-2001); Second Secretary, Permanent Mission of Ethiopia to the United Nations at Geneva and other International Organisations in Switzerland (1993-1999); Second Secretary, Legal Affairs General Directorate (1990-1993).

Mr. Minelik is a lecturer at Addis Ababa University Law Faculty and at the St. Mary University College, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He holds a Bachelor's degree in law from Addis Ababa University and Master's degree in law from the University of London. He is married with three children.
