New Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan
Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 14 April (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations Kairat Abdrakhmanov presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) Yury Fedotov.

Mr. Abdrakhmanov is also appointed Ambassador to the Republic of Austria as of March 2011. He has served in various capacities in the course of his career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan which he entered in 1993, among them: Permanent Representative to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) (2008-2011); Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna (2007-2008); Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (2006-2007); Ambassador to Israel (2003-2006); Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of Kazakhstan to the United Kingdom (2001-2003); Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs (1999-2001); Director of the Department of Bilateral Co-operation (1998-1999) and of the Department of Europe & America (1994-1998).

Mr. Abdrakhmanov holds a Ph.D in History from the Kazakh National State University. He speaks English and Russian and is married with two children.
