New Permanent Observer of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development
Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 4 July (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Observer of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development, Peter Widermann, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) Yury Fedotov.
Mr. Widermann has served in various capacities in the course of his career, among them: Director General of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) (since 2010); Deputy Director General for Public Security, Austrian Ministry of the Interior (2003-2010); Deputy Director General for Alien Matters (2000-2002); Director of Division for Aliens, Police Matters and Public Security Administration Affairs (2000); Head of Department for visa and aliens police (1990-2002); Head of Department for civil protection matters (1987-1990); Federal Chancellors' Office, Legal Advisor (1975-1985). He served in various international positions, among them as Head of Strategic Committee on Immigration, Frontiers and Asylum (SCIFA) during the Austrian EU presidency in 2006.
Mr. Widermann studied law.
