New Permanent Representative of Australia
Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 18 September (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Australia, David Gordon Stuart, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

Mr. Stuart currently serves as Ambassador to Austria and Ambassador Designate to Bosnia Herzegovina, Kosovo, Slovakia, Slovenia ad Ukraine.

Since Mr. Stuart joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 1981, he has served in various capacities:

First Assistant Secretary, South and West Asia and the Middle East Division (2011-2012); Deputy Chief of Mission, United States of America (2007-10); First Assistant Secretary, International Security Division (2004-07); Assistant Secretary, Strategic Affairs Branch (2002-04); Deputy Permanent Representative, Permanent Mission to the UN, New York (1999-2002); Counsellor, Embassy in Indonesia (1997-99); Director, UN Commonwealth and Political Section (1993-95); Director, Organisation for Economic Co-Operation & Development & G7 Section (1992-93); First Secretary, Permanent Mission to the UN, New York (1988-92); Executive Officer, Human Rights Section (1987-88); Narcotics Liaison Officer, UN Social Section (1986-87); Executive Officer, Refugees, Immigration and Asylum Section (1984-85); Third Secretary, Embassy in Spain (1981-84).

Mr. Stuart holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Economics and a Graduate Diploma in Strategic Studies. He speaks Spanish and Indonesian.
