New Permanent Observer of the League of Arab States Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 15 May (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Observer of the League of Arab States to the United Nations (Vienna), Ramzy Ezzeldin Ramzy, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

During his career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, which he joined in 1976, Mr. Ramzy has served in various capacities, among them:

First Under Secretary (2012); Ambassador to Germany (2008-2012); Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Economic Affairs (2007-2008); Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna and Ambassador to Austria (2003-2007); Deputy Assistant Minister for International Political Affairs and Disarmament (2000-2003); Ambassador to Brazil (1997-2000); Minister, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Egypt in Washington D.C. (1993-1997); Director for United Nations Affairs (1991-1993).

Mr. Ramzy holds degrees in Economics from the University of Surrey, United Kingdom, and the American University in Cairo.  He speaks English, French and Arabic.
