VIENNA, 18 November (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Turkey, Emine Birnur Fertekligil, presented her credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.
During her career, Ms. Birnur Fertekligil has served in various capacities, among them:
Deputy Undersecretary, Department of Africa, Multilateral Political Affairs and Cultural Affairs (2010-2013); Director General, Department of Multilateral Political Affairs (2009-2010); Ambassador, Department of Financial and Administrative Affairs (2007-2009); Ambassador, Embassy in Minsk (2004-2007); Deputy Directory General, Western European Department (2001-2004); Head of Department, Department of International Political Organizations (1997-2001); Counsellor of Embassy, Permanent Mission of Turkey to the United Nations (1993-1997); First Secretary, Head of Section, Special Adviser to the Undersecretary of the Ministry (1991-1993); First Secretary, Counsellor, Permanent Mission of Turkey to the European Community (1987-1991); First Secretary, Deputy Directorate General for Multilateral Economic Relations (1985-1987); Second Secretary; First Secretary, Embassy in Damascus (1983-1985); Third Secretary, Second Secretary, Embassy in Paris (1980-1983); Probationary Political Officer, Third Secretary, Department of International Economic Organizations (1978-1980).
Ms. Birnur Fertekligil holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of Ankara. She speaks French and English.
