New Permanent Representative of Libya Presents Credentials

VIENNA, 18 November (UN Information Service) - The new Permanent Representative of Libya, Ibrahim Ali Albesbas, presented his credentials today to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), Yury Fedotov.

Mr. Albesbas is also serving as Ambassador to Austria.

During his career, Mr. Albesbas has served in various capacities since joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1981, among them:

Undersecretary (2011-2012); Director of the Department of International Cooperation (2007-2013); Deputy Director and Head of Training at the Institute of Diplomatic Studies (2004-2007); First Secretary at the Embassy in Austria, focal point for the international atomic energy issues (1999-2002); Department of international organizations, focal point for disarmament issues (1992-1998).

Mr. Albesbas holds a Bachelor's Degree in the English Language from the University of Tripoli, a Master's Degree in Linguistics from the University of Bath, and a PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of Exeter.
